The Collection

The October 27 Archive currently contains 176 objects and is regularly being expanded with more material. The archive includes flyers and programs from community gatherings held since the October 27 attack, a comprehensive collection of news coverage about the day of the event, oral history recordings reflecting a diverse array of experiences, and historical documentation about the Jewish experience in Western Pennsylvania.

Suzanne Snider

Suzanne Snider is a research-based artist and educator whose work is deeply influenced by oral history theory and practice. For more than 20 years, she has worked in the field of oral history as an interviewer, educator, consultant and in the context of archives design. In 2012, Snider founded Oral History Summer School in Hudson, New York to explore nontraditional applications for (and experimental outcomes of) life history and collaborative narrative practices.

Esther Mack

Esther Mack (she/her) is a professional stenographer, providing captioning and transcription for the Jewish community. Esther is a teaching fellow at SVARA: A traditionally radical yeshiva, and she is a leader in the Triangle Minyan, a lay-led minyan in Durham, NC. She loves studying Talmud, sharing meals with friends, and spending time with her rescue dog Molly.
