Squirrel Hill Stands Against Gun Violence was founded in early 2019 by members of the Congregation Dor Hadash Social Action Committee, as a response to the October 27 attack. The organization is a program of Ceasefire Pennsylvania. Squirrel Hill Stands Against Gun Violence primarily advocates for legislation aimed at reducing gun violence. In addition to its legislative work, the organization has held many public memorial and educational events throughout the Pittsburgh area.
